Buckets Pillows

The 5th Ward has been having sewing nights before YW's.  They have finished their dresses and pillows for the top of their buckets.  These can double as pillows.  They found circle pillows at wallmart and then made a slip cover with an elastic lip that will stay on the buckets.

Kierstyn from the 3rd ward

This trek is going to be hard, I can promise you that. But it will TOTALLY be worth it. The leaders aren't setting out to make us miserable, they're trying to provide the best spiritual experience possible for us to feel connected with each other and connected with the saints that made the seemingly impossible journey across the plains to come to Utah. The theme for trek says "In His strength I can do all things." In the Book of Mormon at this time, Ammon is praising the Lord. He says, "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to myself I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in His strength I can do all things..." ALL things. Ammon says he can do ALL things, not just some. The Lord has infinite power and mercy. He WILL help you when you need it, if you will only ask with real intent, having faith that you will receive what you have asked for. His love for you, for each one of us, is without measure. He only wants you to succeed and return to live with Him again. This reminds me of the poem Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson:
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
  Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
  In each scene I noticed there were two sets of footprints,
    Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
     Other times there were one set of footprints.
       This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life,
        when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat,
           I could see only one set of footprints.
               So I said to the Lord,  "You promised me Lord,
             that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
          But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
       there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
     Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?
  The Lord replied, " The times when you have seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
I know that Christ suffered for our sins so we could be saved and live with Him again. I know He lives, I know He loves us, and I KNOW that in HIS strength, I can do ALL things, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

A Message from Nicole Romero {5th Ward}

"Yea I know that I am nothing: as to my strength I am weak, but I God I can do all things" the mortal man can do nothing on his own without the help out our Heavenly Father. He will strengthen and guide us if we just take the time to prepare and to ask. The same applies to our Trek. We are very privileged to have an experience like this. It will not be easy, that I can guarantee. This reminds me of a scriptures in D&C that say," DOUBT NOT, FEAR NOT".  If we prepare and do what it asked of us, like the exercising and walking, or whatever it is our stake presidency asks of us, we will have the strength, both physically and mentally to endure this trip. This trip will affect our outlook on everything - on our personal and spiritual lives. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. He knows what is best for me, I cannot lean on my own understanding. In him, we can do all things"

A Message from Daniel Fernandez {2nd Ward}

"Trek is going to be a wonderful experience!  I am excited to go and experience what the pioneers went through.  I am also excited because going on trek is going to strengthen my testimony.  It will strengthen my testimony on prayer, scripture study, service, family and most importantly, my love for my Savior."

A Message from Alexis Chamberlain {2nd Ward}

I know that going to trek can bring you closer to Heavenly Father and your Stake.  Spending time away from worldly things leaning and doing what the pioneers did will be such an amazing experience and I know you will remember it for a very long time and love it.  We will be having so much fun and be spiritually uplifted also.  Our Stake has planned such a great trek for us you won't want to miss out!  The time for us to do it is now and the more people we have, the more fun it will be!  I am very excited and I hope you, too, share my excitement and join us on our pioneer trek!!  :)
