Kierstyn from the 3rd ward

This trek is going to be hard, I can promise you that. But it will TOTALLY be worth it. The leaders aren't setting out to make us miserable, they're trying to provide the best spiritual experience possible for us to feel connected with each other and connected with the saints that made the seemingly impossible journey across the plains to come to Utah. The theme for trek says "In His strength I can do all things." In the Book of Mormon at this time, Ammon is praising the Lord. He says, "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to myself I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in His strength I can do all things..." ALL things. Ammon says he can do ALL things, not just some. The Lord has infinite power and mercy. He WILL help you when you need it, if you will only ask with real intent, having faith that you will receive what you have asked for. His love for you, for each one of us, is without measure. He only wants you to succeed and return to live with Him again. This reminds me of the poem Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson:
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed there were two sets of footprints,
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,  "You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?
The Lord replied, " The times when you have seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
I know that Christ suffered for our sins so we could be saved and live with Him again. I know He lives, I know He loves us, and I KNOW that in HIS strength, I can do ALL things, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
